Dentures
When making dentures, there are several different techniques that can be used. With each technique, there may be different materials that can also be used. Typically, the better quality teeth and acrylic that is used and also the steps that are taken to produce the final product will dictate the final fee. We will provide all the information you need to make an educated decision on which type of denture you choose.
Complete Dentures
Full dentures are crafted for individuals who no longer have any natural teeth. At Pratt Denture Clinic, we design these dentures to maximize retention, minimizing any potential for slippage. Removable Partial Dentures
Removable partial dentures will fill in areas where one or more teeth have been extracted. Again, there are several different materials that the partial denture can be made of.
Immediate Dentures
Immediate dentures can be placed right after the extraction. Some people have commitments such as work, which forces them to consider immediate dentures. Over the past 30 years, I have found that if the patient can wait 3-4 days after extractions to start the dentures, the dentures will fit better and be more comfortable in the end. This would be my recommendation but if the patient does not wish to be toothless after the extraction, immediate dentures would be made. Immediate dentures are different in that there are a lot of changes which occur in the mouth over the next 10-12 months that would require more appointments for adjustments and maybe temporary relines that would fill in spaces between the gum and denture. Typically, I like to do a temporary reline after 2 months, then again after 4 months of wear, and finally, I would do a permanent reline 10-12 months after insertion of the denture. This is to ensure proper fitting during changes occurring in the mouth after extractions of natural teeth.
